The only reason I'd wanna suscribe to dA is for the option of a unique journal skin, otherwise, a dA suscription would be a waste of money as far as I'm concerned.
Aaaaand now I have one, apparently thanks to the upcoming film Ninja Assassin. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, then you've never checked your message box yet because dA news says unsuscribed members can now use a journal skin. 8D Talk about awesomeness! It's only up till Nov. 29 though, so after that the option to install will be unavailable again (but ALREADY installed journal skins will still be there). Geez, I feel sorry for the dude who's on vacation for a month and comes back to friends all with fancy schmancy journals.
Anyway, yesterday I started making the skin you see now and finished it today. I logged onto to the Fuzz Academy main site (which I haven't done in like ten months till now) just to check the CSS I use for my profile there and kinda re-learn it (for the slow, you need CSS, an Internet language like HTML, to make journal skins), but then I realized I didn't know how to apply it for dA (you need EXACT names to make CSS work for a specific, pre-existing site, names that're usually impossible to know OTL). So I Googled and managed to find
[link] my life-saver of the week. Then I made the journal header (the picture that goes behind the title, for me that's Ginger up there), put it up Photobucket and filled out the rest of the page and the CSS I needed was generated like magic! Whoo. Then obviously I copied it and pasted it on here (now when you create a journal entry, under the title 'New Journal Entry' there are two tabs. Click the 'Options' one and you can paste the CSS code).
Now, this journal entry had an in-depth, well written and written-by-moi explanation of exactly how to make a QUALITY journal skin, except I was Edmonton (it's an inside joke between my middle school class and everyone on the Fuzz Academy forums, when you're Edmonton you do/say something really stupid) and accidentally pressed F5 on the keyboard. Then the page refreshed and I lost 45 minutes of explaining that I am WAY too lazy to re-type and I don't even remember what I put anyway as good as it was so you people live with this, if you wanna make your own journal skin:
1. Make a journal header (or title background) to go behind your title.
2. Upload it to Photobucket or some other image-sharing site.
3. Go to
[link] and fill the whole page out. No surprise, the page explains how to fill everything out and what they're for so I won't cover it here.
4. Paste the CSS code it generates on the 'Options' tab I mentioned when making a new journal entry, in the big 'Skin CSS' section.
5. Submit your journal. You has a journal skin now. Yay.
Finally, I'm aware this is pretty simple of a skin but I think that's how journals skins should be anyway--people read your journals, not ogle their beauty. >__> Anyway, as long as Ginger's on it, it's awesome. >8D Hmm, now I almost feel like making a journal skin for each Fuzz Fighter... almost.

Just because you mentioned it I went and checked the Help and FAQ section and it said there's a save button to save a new skin... but since there's no button for us, I think we can't save it because we're still not premium.
